From the ES spec + Bugzilla 15931 and GL_KHR_vulkan_glsl:
- Update precision qualifiers for all built-in function prototypes.
- Implement the new algorithm used to distinguish built-in function
operation precisions from result precisions.
Also add tracking of separate result and operation precisions, and
use that in generating SPIR-V.
(SPIR-V cares about precision of operation, while the front-end
cares about precision of result, for propagation.)
- Support GL_AMD_shader_ballot (SPV_AMD_shader_ballot).
- Support GL_AMD_shader_trinary_minmax (SPV_AMD_shader_trinary_minmax).
- Support GL_AMD_shader_explicit_vertex_parameter
(SPV_AMD_shader_explicit_vertex_parameter).
- Support GL_AMD_gcn_shader (SPV_AMD_gcn_shader).
- Add new keyword int64_t/uint64_t/i64vec/u64vec.
- Support 64-bit integer literals (dec/hex/oct).
- Support built-in operators for 64-bit integer type.
- Add implicit and explicit type conversion for 64-bit integer type.
- Add new built-in functions defined in this extension.
The infrastructure is in place to not do text comparisons for "texture" ... for deducing type of
texture call. But, it is not yet turned on, as it could break some consumers. Am soliciting
any feedback on that.
See in Initialize.cpp: const bool PureOperatorBuiltins = false; // could break backward compatibility; pending feedback
Also
- uniformly handle EvqConstReadOnly as an input argument in a function, with
isParamInput() and isParamOutput() queries in TQualifier.
- provide a makeTemporary() in TQualifier, for erasing original qualification when making a temp
- provide a makeInternalVariable() call to make a shader variable not seen in the shader source

Note: This affects any downstream consumers of glslang's traverser. Let me know if there are any issues. Essentially, you will need to change the functions that were pointed to into overriding base-class members instead. See the examples in this check in.

- the new C++ style interface now stands on its own, with the addition of glslang::InitializeProcess() and glslang::FinalizeProcess()
- more "global" pool names from a decade ago are fixed to be thread names
- StandAlone.cpp fully uses one of the old-style interface or new C++ style interface

This included
- encapsulating aggregate constants
- removal of constant-aggregate comparison algorithms, instead using a flattened and direct std::vector comparison
- adding structure type comparison for independently declared structures that still might match types

- don't use [] for map lookups, it can modify the map
- copy up built-in symbols out of shared symbol table levels before modifying them
- enforce shallow vs. deep TType copies
- combine maxArraySize with the array dimensions vector, encapsulate
- remove chaining of array types
